Marc and the team at Tailwind Wheels are true craftsmen. They have complete confidence in their wheels, took the time to walk me through every detail of the build process, and even let me test them extensively in Girona before we agreed to work together for 2026.

No quick decision, no one-ride impressions, but real-world data testing over and over again. That gave me the chance to really feel the difference between wheels built with @berdspokes and traditional spokes. We rode different setups back to back, and on rough gravel, it was pretty clear. Even tested them out in a local race (La Bescanonina) that immediaty led to a 2nd place. For me, these wheels are a step forward. Especially with big races like Traka and Unbound in mind.

What stands out the most is the ride feel. More control. More confidence. When the terrain gets really rough, the bike feels calmer and more predictable, and that makes a huge difference.

Marc en het team van Tailwind Wheels zijn echte vakmensen. Ze hebben alle vertrouwen in hun wielen, namen uitgebreid de tijd om me stap voor stap mee te nemen in het hele bouwproces en lieten me ze zelfs uitvoerig testen in Girona voordat we besloten om voor 2026 samen te werken.

Geen snelle beslissing en geen oordeel na één rit, maar herhaaldelijk testen in de praktijk met echte data. Zo kreeg ik de kans om het verschil tussen wielen met @berdspokes en traditionele spaken écht te ervaren. We reden verschillende setups direct na elkaar en vooral op ruige gravel was het verschil duidelijk merkbaar. Ik heb ze zelfs getest tijdens een lokale wedstrijd (La Bescanonina), wat meteen resulteerde in een tweede plaats. Voor mij zijn deze wielen echt een stap vooruit, zeker met grote wedstrijden als Traka en Unbound in het vooruitzicht.

Wat er voor mij het meest uitspringt, is het rijgevoel: meer controle, meer vertrouwen. Wanneer het terrein echt ruig wordt, voelt de fiets rustiger en voorspelbaarder aan. En juist dat maakt een enorm verschil.

Tailwind Wheels rider Tristan Olij finished second on Saturday at the European Long Distance Championship in Almere. Olij seemed on his way to the European title , but was overtaken shortly before the finish by Will Draper from Great Britain.
Olij: "What a day! Losing the ITU European Championship by just 8 seconds hurts. I felt strong across all three disciplines, but it turned into a tough battle with the typical Dutch conditions. Hats off to Will for an incredible last few kilometers to take the win. And a big thank you to @challengealmere for once again putting on such a fantastic event. Crossing the line in 2nd place with a new PB of 7:41:48 and taking the Dutch Title."

�� - Bijna Europees Kampioen op Tailwind Wheels!
Tailwind Wheels - rijder Tristan Olij is zaterdag als tweede geëindigd op het Europees Kampioenschap Lange Afstand in Almere. Olij leek op weg naar de Europese titel , maar werd kort voor de finish ingehaald door Will Draper uit Groot-Brittannië.

Olij: "Wat een dag! Het verliezen van het ITU Europees Kampioenschap met slechts 8 seconden doet pijn. Ik voelde me sterk in alle drie de disciplines, maar het werd een zware strijd met de typische Nederlandse omstandigheden. Petje af voor Will voor een ongelooflijke laatste paar kilometers, om zo de winst te pakken. En een grote dank aan @challengealmere voor opnieuw zo’n fantastisch evenement. Finishen als 2e met een nieuw PR van 7:41:48 én de Nederlandse titel."

A big shoutout to Tailwind Wheels ambassador and rider Tristan Olij , who on Sunday, May 25th , claimed the Dutch National Title in the Middle Distance Triathlon with absolute dominance.

From start to finish in Nieuwkoop, Tristan led the race and showed exactly why he was considered a top favorite going in. A performance of power, precision, and pure control – all on Tailwind Wheels .
Olij: "What. A. Day. Proud to have claimed my first National Title! That the difference was so great surprised me."

Een enorme felicitatie aan Tailwind ambassadeur en atleet Tristan Olij uit Winkel, die op zondag 25 mei met overmacht de nationale titel op de Middle Distance triathlon veroverde.

Van start tot finish domineerde Tristan de race in Nieuwkoop en liet hij zien waarom hij vooraf als topfavoriet werd beschouwd. Een ijzersterk optreden – met kracht, controle en natuurlijk: Tailwind Wheels.

Olij finishes Kona World championship Ironman 22nd

A great result!

Qualifying for the official World Cup was great already, but then also almost making it to the top 20 is a huge achievement.

Tailwind Wheels ambassador Tristan Olij delivers a strong result! He finished in 22nd position, 17 minutes behind the lead position.

Olij: "What. A. Day. Proud to have finished my first Ironman World Championship! Felt like I died 10 times in those last 15 km — the run course was brutal! Dizzy, running on pure willpower, but somehow made it to the finish."

NL - Tailwind ambassadeur Tristan Olij finishte zijn eerste Wereldkampioenschap Ironman in Kona op een hele knappe 22e positie! Een prestatie van formaat tussen de wereldtop!

Our all-rounder will get another optimisation shot soon!

We are working on a new layup that will provide 8% weight reduction while maintaining the same stiffness and durability! The first tests are currently being carried out. We expect to realise the first wheels with this improved version in the fourth quarter.

We werken aan een nieuwe layup die gaat zorgen voor 8% gewichtsvermindering bij gelijkblijvende stijfheid en duurzaamheid! De eerste tests worden momenteel uitgevoerd. We verwachten in het vierde kwartaal de eerste wielen met deze verbeterde versie te realiseren.
